SEU glaudžiai susijęs su pagerėjusiais mokymosi rezultatais, o derinimas su įvairiais mokymo metodais ir kelia mokyklos valdymo kokybę, padeda užtikrinti sėkmingą mokyklos veiklą.

Atsakingų sprendimų priėmimo įgūdžių lavinimas turi prevencinę reikšmę. Šie įgūdžiai turi įtakos dabartiniam ir būsimam, asmeniniam ir socialiniam vaikų gyvenimui. Pasitelkiant tėvų ir mokyklų pagalbą, vaikams turėtų būti suteikiamos galimybės ugdyti įgūdžius, leidžiančius įvertinus dabartį planuoti ateitį.
